Who we are and what we do

MDL – International Trade (PTY) Limited is a Namibian company duly incorporated under the Namibian Law operating within the OIL & GAS was FOUNDED IN 1993. Our area of Expertise are onshoreand offshore Operations. Procurement and logistics for Oil & Gas, Import & Export of Oil & Gas products (Diesel, Pretol, Aviation Jet Fuel A1, Aviation Kerosene and HFC Gas), Storage and Delivery of Oil & Gas derivatives and Supply of logistics services toward Prospecting, Drilling and production of Oil & Gas.

In October 24th 2016 MDL International was licensed by the MINISTRY OF MINES AND ENERGY of Namibia for Distribution of Petroleum Products, Import of Petroleum Products and Export of Petroleum Products.

MDL service the SADC Region and Market and that is due to the fact that  All of the land-locked neighboring countries, including Namibia, are highly dependents of fuel imports, and are currently suffering with lack of an adequate logistic platform;

In terms of expertise MDL can provide the sector with quality products consisting of Unleaded Petrol, Diesel, HFO and lubricants. As well Supply services of logistics services toward Prospecting, Drilling and production of Oil & Gas.

As a result of low international   Crude Oil prices there is a reduction of investment in the petroleum industry around the world. Therefore we are presently focused on upstream activities.

MDL is currently busy with two projects in Usakos:

Temporary Logistic Base – Usakos

The first one consists of setting up a TEMPORARY LOGISTIC BASE in Usakos which will service the Mining and Energy sector in the country. This temporary facility will be operational for 24 months and will create over 120 new jobs.

Permanent Storage and Logistic Base – Usakos

The second project consists of constructing a permanent Storage and Logistic Base with the capacity to storage 240 Million Liters and will take 18 months to be constructed. The estimated construction and equipment’s cost is around USD 70 Million.

MDL International Trade appointed OAS – Engineering and Construction Namibia as the main contractor to Design the Preliminary Conceptual Plan. OAs has finalized the site plans, geotechnical and develops technical-economic studies related to the PROJECT. This comprise of conceptual designs, 3D Models, Preliminary cost estimation and time-frame for the project implementation. The commencement of this construction is pending the finalization of the industrial land acquisition process and the environment impact assessment study.

Once we are operational we will increase the country’s storage capacity for petroleum products thereby ensuring healthy competition which will have a positive impact on pricing and service delivery.

At operational stage the Temporary Logistic Base will have 120 Jobs. Construction is completed and operation due to start early June 2018.

At construction phase the Storage and Logistic Base will create 800 direct jobs and 2400 indirect jobs. Furthermore at the operational stage will have 600 direct jobs and 1800 indirect jobs.
